Stephen specialises in construction law and commercial disputes and has experience in advising clients in respect of matters in all Superior Courts and the State Administrative Tribunal, arbitrations, and adjudications under the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA) and the Building Industry (Security of Payment) Act 2021 (WA).
Stephen’s work involves advising and conducting litigation in all Superior Courts, the Magistrates Court of Western Australia, arbitrations, and the State Administrative Tribunal in respect of breach of contract and defective workmanship claims.
Outside of the above, Stephen also has experience in advising and assisting clients in:
- General commercial disputes, involving breaches of contract.
- Corporate disputes, involving prosecuting and defending allegations of contravention of director’s duties and oppressive conduct claims.
- Consumer law claims, involving allegations of misleading or deceptive conduct, unfair contract terms and breaches of consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
Stephen’s clients include a mixture of builders, contractors, small to medium size enterprises and homeowners.
Stephen prides himself on being able to understand and digest material and instructions, identify and cut straight to the issues at the heart of the dispute to attempt to resolve matters in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.
